How Do Missouri Legislators Score?

The following is from Heritage Action’s website:

“With each vote cast in Congress, freedom either advances or recedes. Heritage Action’s new legislative scorecard allows Americans to see whether their Members of Congress are fighting for freedom, opportunity, prosperity, and civil society. The scorecard is comprehensive, covering the full spectrum of conservatism, and includes legislative action on issues both large and small.

Heritage Action’s legislative scorecard isn’t graded on a curve – it is tough and we don’t apologize. After all, we are conservatives, not tenured university professors.”

Here is how our Missouri legislators scored:

Senate:

  • Roy Blunt R-72%
  • Claire McCaskill D-52%

House of Representatives:

  • MO-07  Billy Long R-85%
  • MO-02  Todd Akin R-81%
  • MO-04  Vicky Hartzler R-75%
  • MO-09  Blaine Luetkemeyer  R-60%
  • MO-06  Sam Graves R-56%
  • MO-08  Jo Ann Emerson R-45%
  • MO-05  Emanuel Cleaver D-13%
  • MO-01  Lacy Clay D-10%
  • MO-03  Russ Carnahan D-7%

With our country in crisis, Americans need to know how their representatives in Congress vote – which Senators and House members are increasing our freedom, and which ones are diminishing it.  In this summary scorecard, Heritage Action for America has given every member in Congress a single score based on a number of votes and on bills co-sponsored.

Votes include bills to -

  • repeal ObamaCare
  • stop funding for ObamaCare
  • reform welfare
  • prohibit the EPA from regulating greenhouse gases
  • prevent TSA screeners from unionizing
  • require a balanced budget
  • favor Paul Ryan’s Budget

The scorecard is a dramatic way to focus attention on the conservative agenda and how members of Congress are voting in a wide range of issues.
